Yoyoyo. Good morning. So first things first, I need your positive vibes and energy today because I had to make my own parking at the train station, and the last thing Sam K needs is another ticket or to get towed. So pray away please because I might cry if any of the above happens.
Now since that's off my chest I can continue with an inspiring story(s?) that I meant to post yestetday, but of course got caught up.
So there is this very sweet girl in a few of my classes, God forgive me I cannot remember her name, and we took the same train home yesterday. I did not realize she lived on Long Island, and was happy that I had someone to talk to for half of my commute. We start chatting about things and she comes to tell me that she 100% supports herself living in an appartment in Carle Place by working full time at DSW, and part-time nannying all while being a full time student at FIT. Now, I don't know about you guys, but I was so impressed by her. Not only is she always in class, but the girl does not complain and always has a smile on her face. She told me that she pays 2,000$ in bills a month and has been doing so for 5 years. I seriously commend her and people of the like because I don't think I could imagine being so independent at 22 years old. She was so hopeful that FIT will help her land that dream job that will pay off her 100k student loans from Hofstra. Also, the girl has a boyfriend who struggles with drug addiction, something strangely common on LI, and she still has all her shit together.
Now I ask everyone to take 20 seconds out of their busy lives to aknowledge how blessed they are to have a supporting, loving family to come home to everyday when you bitch about going to school, as THEY pay for it. After speaking with her, I realized how lucky I am to have no student loans due to an amazing, generous family I am blessed to have. All day I will be thinking of her, keeping her in my prayers and never taking the little things for granted. God bless her, seriously.
Now also, I watched a 15 minute video yesterday about a kid that had a dream to change the world. (Talk about an inspirational day) It was Halloween, and everyone knows what that means. Candy and costumes. (And teepeeing houses) We all know how horrible (and delicious) candy is for you, and this boy had a mission to "unjunk" the candy to make it still taste great, and stay the same price as leading brands. He was told this could not be possible. 2 years later, his candy is sold side by side to the junk, giving people a healthy alternative. I encourage people to check out the candy because we all need to start caring about our health to make a change in the world.
